Sweet Dreams: Women & Children Housing
Established in 2005, our “Sweet Dreams” transitional facility for homeless women and their children offers an invaluable addition to our community. It is a place where mothers in need, who seek to develop life skills can acquire the tools necessary to become healthy and self-sufficient. The children become the priority. The hands-on support, parenting skill workshops, and daily activities designed to rebuild trust, develop self-sufficiency, and provide a nurturing atmosphere for the children and their parents, lead to the development of healthy families.
Many of these women are survivors of various types of abuse, but through our supportive services they receive assistance with free clinical exams, WIC, education and vocational training, family planning services, and access to healthy childcare which empowers them to become productive and independent.

The Phoenix Square Wellness Center (currently known as the Phoenix Square Project), is a 7-unit apartment complex that is currently undergoing remodeling. It will provide permanent housing as an option for clients who have completed the transitional housing services and are ready to move and live healthy and independent lives. There are three phases to this project:
- Phase I – Began with the purchase of the seven-unit apartment building. Remodeling efforts have been made to provide energy efficient standards, allowing TFCF to “go green.”
- Phase II – Involves the creation of community gardens as entrepreneurial options for residents who may want to grow organic fruits and vegetables to sell at farmers’ markets. An additional feature will include the opportunity to provide a wonderful environment to bring seniors and elementary school children for special projects, such as Earth Day.
- Phase III – We will build a community center adjacent to the apartment building and garden that will be of help to the community, providing a location for educational classes and meetings, as well as space for clients to manage their respective businesses. There are also plans to create a solar paneled parking structure to accommodate the center and create reusable energy.
